* About our Toad/Frog Leather products:
The cane toad (Bufo Marinus) was introduced to Australia from Hawaii in 1935 to combat the sugar cane beetle which was destroying the sugar cane crops. It did nothing to aid in the cane beetle population but instead has since over-populated the land and is presently classed as a major environmental pest and a threat to native wildlife. Because the cane toad isn't indigenous to Australia it has no natural predators and in fact kills all wildlife that tries to eat it. This is due to the poisonous toxins that are the cane toad's defense mechanism which is located in two parotoid glands behind the eyes.
These toad leather products make unique gifts that are strong and durable and the purchase of a cane toad product helps save Australia's native fauna.
